The Wellington workplace for the Financial Markets Authority was reconfigured to support a growing team within its existing footprint. The project required a carefully considered approach to maximise capacity while maintaining a comfortable and effective working environment.

Goal

With staff numbers increasing, the objective was to accommodate more people within the existing office space without compromising functionality, workflow, or overall workplace quality.

BFG were appointed through a competitive tender process to assist with both the planning and delivery of the furniture solution, ensuring the space could support the organisation’s evolving requirements while maintaining a cohesive and efficient layout.

How We went About It

Working closely with the project team, we first provided detailed space planning services to develop floorplans that optimised the available footprint. This process ensured that additional workstations could be introduced while still maintaining clear circulation, comfortable working areas, and efficient team workflows.

Following the planning phase, we supplied and installed a comprehensive furniture solution across the workplace. Our scope included a large number of new ergonomic workstations and screens, task seating, focus pods, personal storage, meeting tables and chairs, along with collaborative breakout furniture and soft seating.

As part of the project, we also managed the removal of all existing desks and a significant volume of legacy furniture. These items were responsibly diverted from landfill wherever possible, with materials recycled and reusable furniture donated to local schools for continued use.

After the successful completion of the first stage, we were subsequently engaged to complete the fit-out of a second floor using the same design approach.

The completed workplace provides a cohesive and flexible environment that supports both focused individual work and team collaboration.

By combining thoughtful space planning with modern ergonomic furniture solutions, BFG helped create a high-performing workplace that accommodates the organisation’s growth while maintaining a comfortable and well-balanced working environment.
